Development 13 May 2018 - pt 2.
Was asleep yesterday afternoon, after one night of work and visiting DaXiong in the morning for his house warming - Great buffet and gathering anyway =D. Was kinda burnt and thankful that my wife didn't drag me out all the way to visit my mom-in-law.
About 6.30pm, Elvin , suddenly messaged me saying he's found bugs in v1.003. It gets me excited that the project is really moving, and here I'm updating the bug list on the bugs tracking site.
As part of user experience, he also suggested that for medium to high difficulty...display initial of each string can be more relevant. I've tested my own app a little and I'm in agreement with him - it's really a bit hardcore to have just random characters when the number of blanks is overwhelming.
In fact, there are many researches that suggest the human brain's ability to anticipate things and events allows us to process words in a sentence even though there are typos or even missing letters.

The other thought I have stems off the idea that humans are driven by either pain or pleasure. Introducing 1st-and-last-letter hint policy does makes the memorization process slightly easier in mid-high difficulty level, which makes user feels good - an addictive feeling that encourages users to continue using this App.
"If playing games on hand phone is wasting time, how about making the game an academic one?"
While this is excellent suggestion, priority now still goes to the bugs. Meanwhile do checkout Elvin's facebook, whom I think is not only an excellent friend, but also brilliant academically.
